Athletes selected for the Limestone Coast Regional Sporting Academy Pilot Program

Scholarship Winners named

The Limestone Coast Local Government Association (LCLGA), in partnership with the Office for Recreation and Sport is pleased to be running the Limestone Coast Regional Sporting Academy (LCRSA)Pilot Program. The Pilot program will provide scholarships to 12 athletes across the Limestone Coast.

These scholarships will give the successful applicants access to a 12-month Strength and Conditioning Course, a 12-month gym membership in their own town and education on what it takes to be an elite athlete. The Academy will also be employing local coaches who will be given training to help support the athletes with their programs.

With the amount of nominations received the process was a difficult one, with the quality of applicants a testament to the sporting ability in the Limestone Coast. The range of sports and levels of achievement by the athletes was excellent.

We also engaged State Sporting Organisations (SSO) and equivalent bodies to assist in the selection process.

LCRSA coordinator Tony Elletson said, “We are extremely pleased with the athletes selected. We have athletes who have competed at National and State level in a variety of sports, and look forward to supporting them in their quest to become elite athletes. We will continue to work towards growing the Academy and look forward to involving further athletes in coming years.
